PROGRAM FEES

Fundación AFOS is a non profit organization mainly funded by the fees paid by the program participants. Due to our non-profit orientation and Argentina’s favorable currency exchange rate for foreigners, we can currently offer our programs at the very low fees in the table below:

Includes
customized location of projects, Córdoba airport or bus station pick up, lodging (3) in a shared room without meals, initial orientation, assistance and permanent supervision throughout the program, certificate at completion and overhead expenses like rent, services, staff fees, communications and promotion.

1) Internships additionally include: Initial Internship plan, weekly meetings with tutor and final evaluation.
2) For other Spanish course options please visit Learn Spanish.
3) Lodging in AFOS residence (see photos) or shared apartment. For other options and costs please see Accommodations FAQs.

We offer discounts to long-term volunteers with intermediate level of Spanish who are traveling independently and can arrange their own accommodation.

Does not include
Airfare and airport taxes to Córdoba, meals, local transportation, daily transfers to projects, laundry and personal expenses. Typical participants report spending around US $ 60 (50 €) per week for these incidental costs

Health Insurance
As a program requirement you need health coverage throughout your program. Your home country coverage is acceptable if it covers you abroad; if not we can arrange for health coverage for you here.

This coverage includes medical and dental consultations, emergencies, hospitalization and surgeries. It does not include civil liability or life insurance. If you are a student intern we suggest you ask whether you are covered abroad by a family or university policy

Payment terms
To reserve participation in the program and to ensure availability of accommodation and project, one month’s total fee must be paid in advance (or 100% if the program is shorter than 1 month). If the participant cannot travel for acceptable reasons beyond their control, 90% of the advance payment will be reimbursed.

During the rest of the program, monthly fees must be paid in advance. This means that there is flexibility to shorten or extend the program just by letting us know 15 days in advance, which is the due date for the following month’s program fee.

Why pay to volunteer?

• To organize your accommodation, to orient and assist you until you settle down in your new environment and to find a suitable organization where you may volunteer. Although anyone can independently do this, the amount of time required to do so, particularly from overseas, without language fluency and for a short-term commitment is immense.

• Because the risk of personal hazard or picking an inappropriate organization can be quite high and your experience can be frustrating when there is no information and guidance in advance.

• By utilizing our assistance you are guaranteed a fulfilling placement with a legitimate organization and your comfort and safety are assured.

Our organization invests time and resources to ensure that volunteers work in suitable and safe projects and receive training as necessary. We invest in the orientation (before and during their stay), appropriate accommodations as well as in logistical and emotional support to facilitate their immersion into the local culture. Additionally you can take Spanish courses at the organization’s residence. You will likely spend far less, have far greater impact and be far more satisfied by utilizing our assistance.
